Frequently Asked Questions
When Should I Replace My Mattress?
Industry experts recommend replacing your mattress set every 7-10 years. Your mattress is the most widely used piece of furniture in your home, getting an average of 6-8 hours of use a day. Mattresses lose support and comfort over the years, so it is imperative to look for the signs that it is time to replace. If you are:
- Not sleeping as soundly
- Tossing and turning more than normal
- Waking up tired
- Waking up with aches and pains
Then you may want to consider purchasing a new bed. Since we spend around one third of our life sleeping, a good quality mattress is key to our overall health and well being.
What is the Difference Between Comfort and Support in a Mattress?
Support in a mattress comes from either the innerspring unit or the base foam in the mattress depending on what type of mattress you purchase. Comfort is in the quilting and the layers of foam placed upon the innerspring unit. These comfort layers should contour to your body and this will help distribute your body weight, increase blood circulation and reduce pressure points!
What are the Differences Between Big Name Brands and the Private Brands we Carry?
The only real difference is price. When you purchase a nationally advertised brand, the higher prices come from the advertising! These companies spend millions of dollars a year on marketing. This cost is directly passed onto the consumer. Sounds crazy, right? That’s because it is! Why should you pay for them to advertise? In the mattress industry, there is only ONE manufacturer of springs in this country and they supply EVERYBODY. The company is Leggett and Platt. There are three major suppliers of foam. You are getting the same quality beds at a fraction of the price because our brands don’t advertise.
What Kind of Warranty Comes with My Bed?
Warranties vary depending on what kind of bed set you choose. Typical warranty length on a traditional innerspring bed is 10 years. But they do vary. Any stain on a mattress, regardless of manufacturer, will void a warranty! We always will recommend a waterproof pad to help ensure a stain free bed. You must read the warranty card that is provided with every bed purchase.
How Often Should I Flip and/or Rotate my Mattress?
Most beds today are one sided so flipping does not apply to everyone. Depending on use and body type a good rule of thumb would be to flip and/or rotate your mattress every 4-6 weeks. If there is a moderate to substantial weight difference between two people then it should be flipped and/or rotated every 3-4 weeks. If the bed is not getting daily use then flip or rotate as needed.
